                              Teachers

                              Natalie Almond

                              Picture
Natalie runs The living Room and is very passionate about her unique teachings. Natalie has been practising yoga for 22 years and teaching for 17 years, with an athletic background she realised fit and healthy was created by yoga more than any other physical exercise she had tried.

With a great need to heal herself she learnt a lot about bodily functions. Natalie realised the pH balance of the body is an important part to all healing, this is all related to Ha -Tha, sun-moon, male-female, yin-yang, liver-spleen, acid-alkaline and mind-body. Bringing the two sides (left - right) of the body into balance the posture is corrected, the pH is balanced along with the mind and body, this way the soul can reside in a comfortable body with a radiant spirit. Thiswas the beginning of her training in Alchemic Yoga.

Natalie began stretching her body while into sports in the late 80's, her stretching sessions became longer and longer, and realised the extra benefits relaxing and releasing created, which led her to trying out a few yoga classes. She then discovered there was an imbalance in some of her organs, just like another of those stories of fate; one week later she found her first yoga teacher and healer John Burke. Noticing a great change in her well being through every aspect she began to learn more about yoga and healing and dived in with an obsessive interest (her first truly healthy obsession).

In 1993 Natalie traveled to Thailand where she met Asokananda; teacher of Traditional Thai massage, yoga and meditation she studied with him in a small village in the mountains of northern Thailand healing the body's energy. Since then Natalie began practicing healing and has been coming across healers of many different modalities who shared their knowledge with her.
Natalie met Swami Saraswati in 2001 where she completed her yoga teachers diploma, Swami the first teacher bringing yoga to Australia, a wonderfully yogic minded teacher has taught her a lot about healing and state of mind and heart.

Natalie has held many workshops and retreats since 1996. She has given talks and demonstrations at healing conventions and festivals. Her passion is the chakras and seasonal yoga practices for which she holds classes and workshops.
Natalie's healing keys is; strong belief in visualisation, creating a deep and meaningful relationship with the body and organs by talking to them with true intent. She understands the emotional state is vital to our health and the way we think.
Keeping the body, soul, spirit balanced, the 5 elements; earth, air, water, wood, fire in harmony, and the chakras active, we should be able to maintain a healthy immune system, flexibilty in mind and body giving a healthy emotional state.
Natalie has taught people with chronic fatigue, HIV positive, anxiety, depression and many other ailments with consideable success and people of all ages from 3 years old.

Natalie's classes incorporate traditional hatha style, a touch of chi kung movements, and flowing postures, posture correction plays an important part. She explains a great deal about the organs and emotional benefits through the postures and the relation to the chakras. Natalie teaches the fundamentals of yoga, healing and energy giving you the power to heal yourself.
Natalie's classes are gentle yet strong, working with core muscle, asana, pranayama, bhandas and meditation. You do not need to be an expert or extremely flexible as the classes are adjusted to each individual. These classes are not floor gymnastics, they are designed to integrate body, mind, spirit and bring the entire being into a healthy state.

                              Hollie Driscoll

                              Picture
Hollie began her yoga teacher training believing it would be a good way to increase her knowledge of yoga for her own practice. She had no idea it would become her life’s passion and work! Hollie completed the two and a half year hatha yoga and meditation teacher training at Nature Care College in 2002 and has been teaching ever since.

Hollie came to yoga after experiencing a lot of depression and anxiety in her own life and was looking for a way to try to understand the fluctuations of her own mind. Yoga was a revelation in that it not only gave her the space to be in these emotions with having to react or run away but also gave her the tools to understand why she was experiencing these emotions and how to understand what is behind these emotions and thought patterns. From this start with her own practice and from working with other people experiencing their own minds Hollie believes yoga and meditation to be an invaluable practice for anyone who wants to live a more open hearted and clear minded way of life.

Teaching yoga is such a blessing as it not only enables you to share your knowledge of this beautiful practice with others but the more you interact with  your students and other practitioners the deeper your own practice becomes. In her classes Hollie aims to create a space where each person can experience their own physical, mental and subtle self through flowing asana, pranayama practice and finishing with chanting and meditation to connect with that deep calm space within, the true nature of self, which is the ultimate goal of  yoga practice.

The class is designed to allow each person to develop their suppleness and flexibility at their own pace, with an emphasis on working with the chemistry and the physics of the body using the breath and fluidity of movement.

We use beautiful breathing exercises to expand our stretches, combined with strengthening work to develop the internal muscles. Much of the class is designed to enhance the lymphatic and hormonal systems, and yoga that is relevant to each of the seasons.
